In 1982, Nancy G. Brinker, promised her 36-year-old dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. Since then, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has become the world’s largest non-profit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer, investing in breakthrough research, community health outreach, and advocacy programs in more than 60 countries.
Every month of October, Essence Corp. hosts several “pink” events, raising funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, matching all employee donations.
NO SHAVE NOVEMBER
https://no-shave.org/
No-Shave November is a non-profit organization devoted to growing cancer awareness. The goal during the month-long journey is for participants to forgo shaving, embrace their hair, which many cancer patients lose, and let it grow wild and free in their honor. The point is to donate the money one would typically spend on shaving and grooming, to support cancer prevention, research, and education, to save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.
